Austin Landing to add Buffalo Wild Wings site

MIAMI TWP. — A new restaurant is planned at Austin Landing as part of multimillion project near the Ohio 741 entrance to the mixed-use retail complex in Miami Twp.

Buffalo Wild Wings proposes to build a 6,657-square-foot site between Kohl’s and Kroger, an initial investment of about $6 million on land that is also projected to include office space, said Larry Dillin, president of VisCap Development, which manages Austin Landing.

Austin Landing has more than a dozen restaurants, bars and eateries, the vast majority near the southern entry way off Austin Boulevard. BW3s would be the first on the development’s northeast side, nearer The Flats at Austin Landing, the Staybridge Suites and the Hilton Garden Inn.

“We’re trying to maximize the opportunity and experience for guests and pedestrians for people who live or are staying in hotels to access various parts of the site,” Dillin said.

The restaurant’s rear would face Kohl’s to the south and include 970 square feet of outdoor patio space on the north side, where its entrance would be, according plans approved Wednesday by the Miami Twp. Zoning Commission. It is set to be considered by township trustees Feb. 27.

Planners suggested putting the restaurant on the parcel’s north side, facing Kohl’s and nearest Landing Way. But Dillin – and company officials – said that wouldn’t be in the businesses’ best interest.

“We’ve worked very hard with VisCap to really come up with – we think – a world-class designed building,” said Bill Ferris, director of store design for Buffalo Wild Wings.

“We do believe the layout of the site is the right solution for this particular site from our point of view,” he added. The area of the parcel targeted for office space is at the intersection of Landing Way and Liverpool Lane.
